Ebony Fume opens with frankincense, Palo Santo, black pepper, and violet leaves, creating a dry, smoky, and spicy woody character. The smoke is prominent but quickly evolves with leather, labdanum, papyrus, and cade oil into a darker, resinous, and almost ceremonial feel, with a subtle rose in the background.
In the drydown, ebony, resins, and guaiac wood take over, making the scent drier, darker, and more woody. The result is very close to Tom Ford Ébène Fumé but is perceived by many as slightly sweeter and softer, while retaining the distinct combination of Palo Santo, frankincense, leather, and polished dark wood.
