Colosseum opens full-bodied and fruity with rum, saffron, peach, and apple. The peach stands out clearly along with a warm boozy sweetness, while saffron gives the opening a spicy and slightly dry contrast.
As the fragrance develops, patchouli and vetiver emerge, providing more earthy and woody depth. In the drydown, the composition is softened by amber, sandalwood, vanilla, and tonka bean. The result is a warm, sweet, and fruity-spicy fragrance with creamy woodiness and a clear resemblance to Triumph of Bacchus.

The fruitiness is quite sweet and can lean towards candied or syrupy peach rather than naturally fresh fruit. Colosseum is also less dense and explosive than Triumph of Bacchus, and the projection usually fades significantly after the first few hours even when the scent is still present on the skin.
