Mythical Gryphon opens with saffron, cardamom, pepper and bergamot, creating a warm, dry and intensely spicy start with a subtle, fresh citrus contrast. At its heart, tree bark, Akigalawood, cedar and cinnamon meet rose, providing a dense combination of spicy wood and a sweeter, somewhat darker rose profile.
In the drydown, vanilla, patchouli, vetiver and amber become more prominent, making the scent warmer, softer, and somewhat earthier. The result is a spicy, woody and ambery rose fragrance with a modern niche feel, where the vanilla rounds off the composition without making it a pure gourmand.

For those who like spicy and woody scents where saffron, cardamom and Akigalawood meet rose, cedarwood, amber and vanilla. Mythical Gryphon has a clear niche character and is particularly suitable if you appreciate darker, Amouage-like compositions with rose, spices, and modern wood accords.
However, it is not an obvious blind buy. The rose can be distinctly sweet or almost sour jam-like, while Akigalawood and saffron give a dry and sometimes quite sharp sensation. Some also experience a synthetic opening, and the connection to a specific inspirational scent is significantly less clear than with many other French Avenue fragrances.
